Modem is simply a device that converts analog signals from your telephone line into digital signals that’s understood by the computer, and also does the reverse. To be technical it modulates and demodulates the signal from which it receives its name MODEM. Modems are of various types and sizes like the cable modem, satellite modems, wireless modem etc. but the most popular of them all is the retro cable modem which connects via the telephone lines. Modems can even resend the missing data segments, if they detect some kind of loss of integrity in data. Modems are surely some lovely devices that will fade away from our memories.
